Objective

The area around the intersection of NE 8th Avenue and Waldo Road, Citizens Field, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose Center was identified as a priority area during community engagement for the GCRA 10 Year Reinvestment Plan. This is is a major effort that requires multiple partnerships and much community engagement.

The City Commission and Alachua County Board of County Commissioners approved an amendment to the Interlocal Agreement expanding the GCRA boundary to include the entire 8th and Waldo site. A request for proposals was issued in late 2022 for a feasibilty study for the site, to be funded by the GCRA.
