Housing Workshops to be Held in Pleasant Street
The GCRA is exploring opportunities to build affordable housing on city-owned property in the Pleasant Street neighborhood and is inviting neighbors to get involved. Two Neighborhood Workshops will be held in November, and all are invited.
The goal of the workshops is to identify ‘how might we create a redevelopment strategy for City-owned properties in the Pleasant Street neighborhood that ensures existing neighbors, as well as those with low- and moderate- incomes, and those marginalized based on race and ethnicity, will share in the benefits of neighborhood growth?’
Conversations will center around these questions: “Who needs housing” and “What is affordable” in the Pleasant Street neighborhood?
Both workshops will include the same information and activities. Residents are encouraged to drop in and participate during either workshop.
Pleasant Street Neighborhood Workshops:
When: 3:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, November 7; and 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 10
Where: 414 NW 5th Ave, Gainesville, FL, at the home development site
These workshops will be held outdoors, and masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged.
In the event of severe weather, the workshop(s) will be postponed to a later date.
